Hawaii's state fish is the Humuhumunukunukuapua'a
which means "triggerfish with a pig-like
short snout". (and yes, it takes about 5
years of residency before you can pronounce it).
Actually
the distinctinction of being the state fish expired
legally in 1990 in which there was no official
state fish, despite what the postcards said.
However, May 2, 2007, legislation officially
reinstated this colorfish fish to its regal rank!
